Reminder!

Just a reminder that if Ballard delays or cancels due to the weather, preschool will be canceled.  I pray that the weather cooperates and we are able to enjoy our day together tomorrow.  :)

Hugs,

Snow!

SNOW...yes, we are still learning about snow!

Week- January 22-25  NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY!

Now, this is a unit study that is going strong!  We seem to be coming up with new ideas and questions daily, so we will let the learning continue, until the excitement goes away.  We ended the week by making Sparkly S's out of borax and boiling water.  We were learning about the letter S and snow, so it worked out great!  The students all formed a pipecleaner into as S (handwriting) and then mixed up a solution of borax and hot water to dip our S's in.  We watched them begin to form crystals and when we come back on Tuesday, I am sure the kiddos will be thrilled with the results.  Science is so much fun and Ms. Malissa is so good at teaching that subject.
We did a lot of yoga this week and learned a lot about relaxation as well!  There is nothing cuter than watching a class full of preschool children with prayer hands to their hearts.  We are learning so much about respecting ourselves and loving ourselves, as well as each other.  Life is pretty good at Ms. Hollie's, and our students are simply amazing!

Enjoy the pictures of our busy week!

Love

Have I mentioned that we give lots of love at Ms. Hollie's preschool. We truly believe that children learn best when they feel safe and loved. We don't take this lightly. ;).

Ms. Malissa gives the best hugs!

Literacy-  Journals, write around the room, recognizing names or our classmates.

Snow much fun!

We have had an exciting week of learning about snow. The students are doing a lot of outdoor exploration and discovering some really cool things! Just in case you wondered...the platypus does not like snow and you will not find their tracks while looking for animal tracks in Iowa, but...you might be lucky enough to find a spider crawling along on top of the snow. :). We know that bunnies are all over around our school! We found tracks and poo...lots of giggles during our walk when we continued finding little brown balls in the snow!

We will continue our snow study for at least one more week! We are really enjoying our days of exploration together!

Snow!

Since we have been back from Christmas break, we have heard more about snow than we have about all the great Christmas gifts the students received.  We sat down last week and discussed what the students know about snow and will continue this week with what they want to know about snow.  We will begin our exploration and discovery on snow and we are all excited!

Letter of the Week- Continue with G and begin S

Math- AABB pattern

Science- melting, animals in the snow

Social Studies- Animals in our neighborhood during the winter months.

Literacy- Journal writing about animal footprints in the snow, partner reading.

Christmas Program!

Our Christmas program is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 5th at 10:00 am!  I hope and pray this works for most of us and understand if you can't make it.   Please email me if you have any questions.  Without Santa visiting and our gift exchange, the program should be VERY short.
