Insects( Boxelder Bugs)

It feels so good to be back in the classroom with a room full of blessings!  We have been learning about the Easter Story and insects!  Hmmm, I guess we will say the connection is NEW LIFE!

Before we left for break, we found a Boxelder bug crawling in the classroom and then several dead ones up in the light fixture, so we decided to start our study on insects and the students and teachers are having a blast.  I apologize for the "beautiful" creations that came home yesterday, but the students had so much fun recalling what they learned from our story about beetles and then creating their own beetle with "odds and ends" from the classroom!  SO. MUCH. FUN watching their little brains create!

This week we will introduce the letter V and the sound that it makes!  We will also be doing several rhyming activities.  Rhyming is a great activity to do at home with your child.  It's not time consuming, it's fun, and such an important language and literacy skill.

IMPORTANT DATES!

April 12th- No school due to professional development

Sign up for conferences through a link on our classroom blog.  Conferences will be on April 22nd and 23rd.

May 18th is graduation!  :(

March 11th-15th

We had a visitor in our classroom today and will be starting our next study on the little critter. We found a boxelter bug on the window and the students enjoyed sharing lots of stories about catching bugs and what kind of bugs they like. So, on Monday, we will begin our new study and hopefully that will push us into spring thinking.

We have enjoyed shadows and I'm sure we will use our knowledge of shadows as we explore bugs. I LOVE these studies and am learning so much about our students through the process.

We will not have school on March 15th due to professional development.

March 18-22 is our Spring Break!

March 4th- 7th

Reminder- NO SCHOOL March 8th due to professional development

This week, our shadow study has taken a complete turn and we will be moving into studying rainbows. We had sooo much fun last week mixing colors and learning about transparent and opaque. I am SO proud of our class of 3 and 4 year old kiddos who are so brilliant! I am having just as much fun as the students learning about shadows and colors.

With St. Patrick's Day coming, rainbows will be so much fun and of course we will begin studying the Easter Story as well. We are excited to discuss the miracle of Jesus as we get closer to Easter.

We had such a busy week of birthday parties and sugar last week. We have another birthday on Monday and then hopefully we can rid our bodies of sugar and do lots of yoga to calm down. ;)

Thank you for being such wonderful families and sharing your beautiful children with us this year! I can't believe it is already March!

Ms. Hollie is moving into her new home this week, so if I don't get to your emails right away, I promise I will do my best to reach you as soon as possible. I am so excited to be back in Huxley again. :)

Don't forget to ask your child about the things we are doing in our small groups. We love being able to work in smaller groups once a day and meet the needs of our students on a deeper level.

God Bless
